Battle of the Ax reminders

Just some reminders for fans about things happening the week leading up to Sherman-Denison:

A limited number of general admission tickets to the 111th Battle of the Ax between the Denison and Sherman will be available for purchase by Yellow Jacket fans only on Monday morning at the DISD administration building.

"We'll begin selling the tickets to Denison fans on a first-come, first-served basis promptly at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2," DISD superintendent Dr. Henry Scott said. "There will be a limit of four adult tickets per person, with pre-purchase ticket prices set at $6 for adults and $4 for students. All tickets purchased at the gate will be $7."

Sherman athletic secretary Bevery Duke said a limited number of reserve and general admission tickets for Bearcat fans will go on sale on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. at Bearcat Stadium.

Scott said the number of general admission tickets available at the gate, for both home and visiting adults, will depend on the number of student tickets sold at each school.

"Since these tickets are all general admission, fans should keep in mind that it is important to arrive at the game early in order to find a seat," Scott said. "Once the stadium is at capacity, no more tickets will be sold."

Battle T-shirts on sale

This year's edition of the Battle of the Ax T-shirts will be available for sale all next week leading up to the game against Sherman at Munson Stadium.

The shirts will also be sold by members of the Denison Booster Club Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the Denison High School Commons from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. as well as on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Flying G, which is located at 607 West Main in Denison.

Small, medium, large, extra-large, double XL and youth shirts are $10 while triple- and quadruple-extra large shirts are $12.

They should sell as many tickets as they have taker’s. Standing room was a normal way people once would watch the game (and it brings in more revenue for the schools). The more fans that attend the game the more energy both teams enjoy and the better the game. This is one game that you can throw out the stats. It is also a game that if the stadium is sold out, one of the local TV stations should televise.
