Hoops Bearcats to hit the road
Coach Jeff McCullough’s Sherman Bearcats will be logging some serious mileage in the months of November and December.
The Cats will open the 2009-10 basketball season on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at
home against Allen, then won’t appear at Bearcat Gymnasium again until
the Sherman Holiday Invitational Dec. 28-30.
They’ll play in a Thanksgiving tournament in Peoria, Ill. and will take
a two-game swing through Northwest Arkansas Dec. 18-19 against
Fayetteville and Rogers.
A tournament in Garland, an appearance in the South Garland Shootout
and road games to Wylie and DeSoto round out the pre-holiday slate for
Sherman.
“We have a brutal non-district schedule,” McCullough said. “We had six
teams drop us from last year. I guess folks in the Metroplex think you
have to drive forever to get to Sherman. They haven’t been in a
district with Wichita Falls.”
The Bearcats, who finished 27-8 in 2008-09 and went four rounds deep in
the playoffs, bring back senior 6-foot-7 wing Cameron Clark, who
committed to Oklahoma two weeks ago.
