Texoma Council of Governments taking grant applications

Non-profit organizations and other groups that intend to apply for state criminal justice funding must attend a grant planning workshop. Texoma Council of Governments said it will hold the free workshop Jan. 26 at its headquarters in Sherman.

Texoma Council of Governments announced a request for applications, referred to as an RFA from the Criminal Justice Division, Office of the Governor for programs addressing victim services in Texas.

The sources of this grant application are Victims of Crime Act funds, State Criminal Justice Planning Funds, Violence Against Women Act, Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Funds and the Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act.

Organizations that are eligible to apply for these grants funds are state agencies; units of local government; non-profit agencies; Native American tribes; community supervision and corrections department; and councils of governments.

In addition to being free, the workshop requires no pre-registration, and is scheduled for 3 p.m. in the Eisenhower Room (first floor) at the Texoma Council of Governments, 1117 Gallagher Drive. The training session will last no more than two hours. Participation in the grant application workshop is mandatory for applicants. This workshop is provided for those who have never applied to CJD, as well as those who have previous experience with the CJD grant application process.

The Texoma Council of Governments provides coordination of the application process, reviews the applications and sets priorities for the applications.
