The summer is in full swing in Grayson County. That means that there will be plenty of activities for the family all summer long. This weekend offers from family-friendly events as well as an adults-only wine tasting in Denison. So if you are looking for ways to spend time with the family, here are five events set all around Grayson County.


1. Outdoor Music


Thursday night Sherman kicked off its summer concert series, Hot Summer Nights with musical guests Fuel. Denison’s summer concert series, Music on Main is entering its third week. Friday evening catch Terrance Simien and Zydeco Experience performing at 7:30 p.m. at Heritage Park in Denison. Next week, catch Mark Chesnutt performing at 7 p.m. on the Sherman Municipal Building Lawn.


2. Popsicles for all


Sherman Parks and Recreation is hosting “Popsicles in the Park” this weekend for area children. From 6-8 p.m. Friday at Fairview Park, Sherman Parks and Rec officials will be handing out free Popsicles and will have games for everyone to play. 3. Abra Cadabra


The Denison Public Library will be hosting magic lessons this weekend. James Wand’s magic show will be from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at 300 W. Gandy St., Denison. Super spy magician James Wand’s magical show includes clues, secret codes and lots of magic as the children help him on a top secret mission. 4. Learn about nature


Its time again for the second Saturday program at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge in Sherman. This month’s presentation will be on least terns. The program begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at 6465 Refuge Road in Sherman. Austin College Biology Associate Professor Wayne Meyer will be the speaker talking about the smallest of American Terns, the Least Tern that can be found nesting on sandy beaches along the southern coasts of the United States and up the major river systems far into the interior of the continent including at Hagerman NWR.


5. Tastings


The Denison Wine Festival will be held Saturday evening. Take a trip to Heritage Park in Denison to sample wines from six vendors. On site will be Homestead Winery, Firelight Vineyards, Landon Winery, Fairhaven Vineyards, Arche Winery and Vineyards, and Cooley Bay Winery. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. A very limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
