Cheese for the baby There is a nursery rhyme that says little girls are made of sugar and spice. But I am not sure they were talking about the little girl who spends Friday nights and Saturday mornings with me and mine. This little girl seems to have an unnatural affinity for cheese.
My darling niece, Stormi, loves cheese to the point that I think she would eat only it if the adults around her would permit. Her current favorite is a particular brand of taco chips coated in that yellow/orange powdery cheese stuff that makes such a mess everywhere.
I took her into a store over the weekend and was amazed that she knew the bag the darn things come in and grabbed for one as I walked past it.
Now, I know the prudent thing would have been to say "No" and put back the bag. But being an aunt I am allowed to give the ball of joy her heart's desire (as long as her safety is not in jeopardy). So we left the store with the bag of yellow/orange stuff. And, following the above mentioned rule, I gave in when she wanted the bag open for the ride home.
I now have to figure out how to get all of that powdery stuff off my car seats. Who knew such a tiny girl could spread so much, so far? Not I.
When I reached the house, my darling girl and her darling outfit were both smeared head to toe with the stuff. Inside, she shared her new favorite treat with the schnauzer -- the same dog that wouldn't touch said chip if it came from me. However, he long ago learned that we give the best stuff to the one walking around in diapers. So anything she offers, he eats like it might be his last meal.
