Bells homecoming events
BELLS-- A "Tailgate Rally," "Panther Fan Zone" and much more will highlight the annual Bells Homecoming. Special activities will be held at the school throughout the week of Sept. 28 through Oct. 2, culminating Friday with the Bells Panther football homecoming game against the Whitewright Tigers.
On Friday, activities get underway with a bonfire and community pep rally at 10 a.m. The Tailgate Rally and the new Panther Fan Zone kick off at 4 p.m. Friday under the tend at the stadium. This will be a gathering is a place for Bells school alumni, residents, supporters and students of all ages. Admission into the Tailgate Rally and Panther Fan Zone is free. Inside the tent will be booths with food and drinks, games of chance and skill, spirit items and treats like cotton candy. Each booth is individually sponsored by a club or organization within the Bells school system as a fund raiser. Offered at the various booths will be BBQ sandwiches, homemade lemonade, iced tea, ice cream and slushies, a paintball shoot, car smash, pie throw, dart throw, dice game, coin toss, cake walk, face and hair painting/tattoos, and picture buttons made on site.
Football players and coaches from Panther teams from the 1950s, '60s, '70s, and '80s will be recognized and share special memories. "Pouncer" the panther will also greet visitors and students.
Bells Homecoming pre-game activities will begin at 7 p.m., prior to the game. The crowning of the 2009 Homecoming queen will take place, along with the singing of the National Anthem by Bells alumna, Rita Anderson Fulmer.
